Workwear Solutions

Spring is officially here, but what to wear to the office? Take a look at offerings from the catwalk for inspiration.

Compiled by Victoria Bain.

Short suits are on trend and a chic new option for work, as seen as at Jonathan Saunders. Team with a flat loafer for days when you can't face heels.

At Brioni, white was the ultimate luxury. (However, avoiding tubes and small children is advisable)

Silk layers are the lynch pins for an effortless spring working wardrobe; take a tip from designer Roland Mouret's book.

Stand out from the sea of black in a bright, pop-colour coat, such as these ones by Dries Van Noten.

Trench dresses like this chic Derek Lam one will get you office ready. Wear as a dress or over trousers and a blouse.

Accessorise all areas! Big necklaces, earrings and a statement cuff - effortlessly conveyed at Emporio Armani - can transform a simple shift.

Bin the black and take inspiration from MaxMara - navy is a softer option for spring.

Shirt dresses never go out of style. Throw one on with a big belt and a wedged heel, as seen at Michael Kors.

Layering textures, like at 3.1 Phillip Lim, will create a more distinctive look.

Sleeveless jackets are the new workwear staple. Get toning now for Michelle Obama-esque arms to pull off this Michael Kors number.

Pastels and nudes will keep your look modern. And a document case is a must. French fashion house Cacharel got it spot-on.

Bulk-buy silk blouses and team with neutral separates, like Stella McCartney did in her spring/summer 2011 collection.
