The "New" Leather

I can't recall ever wanting to wear leather as much as I do now! Sure, the leather jackets and coats are always a staple, but the "new crop" of leather pants, dresses, tops and skirts are absolutely chic. Many of the pieces appear as a "blast from the past," such as Michael Kors' leather shift....kind of mod 60s....I see visions of Mary Quant. Elizabeth & James' "baxley" leather pants, brings to mind that 70s bohemian style, made famous by the likes of Jane Birkin, and Ali Macgraw.

Junya Watanabe's "play suit" is another favorite, as are the Row's cropped pants and Alexander McQueen's pleated dress. Gone are the days of bulky, unconstructed leathers as structured, minimalist, pieces take center stage.
